ZZ Top's Worldwide Texas Tour: June 12, 1976 at Three Rivers Stadium

This day in 1976, ZZ Top's "World Wide Texas Tour" rolled into Pittsburgh for a stop at Three Rivers Stadium!

It was a Saturday, Aerosmith was the opener, and tickets were *$8.75 (*plus service charge).

But this wasn't just any tour. ZZ Top wanted to bring the vibe of the Texas prairie to the stage, so the set reflected that, and they brought live animals along for the ride.

It's been called one of the craziest shows in Pittsburgh. Billy Gibbons was quoted in an old Louder article as saying, "The next day was a (Pirates) game, and the players complained because the animals had gotten loose and put divots in the field."

"Hey, your buffalo just escaped and he’s making third base!”

Check out some old news video clips about it below.
