New Documentary About The Who's Tragic Concert In Cincinnati Dec. 3, 1979

Tuesday night, Cincinnati TV station WCPO aired a documentary about the The Who concert on December 3rd, 1979, when 11 people were trampled to death and two dozen others were injured while trying to enter their show at the Riverfront Coliseum.

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend both sat down for exclusive interviews with WCPO anchor Tanya O’Rourke and talked candidly about that horrific night. The 48 minute long documentary also included archival footage, and stories from interviews with survivors and families and friends of victims.

After it aired, The Who announced they will return to the Cincinnati area for their first concert there since that tragic night in December of 1979. Next year on April 23rd, they will perform at Northern Kentucky University’s BB&T Arena, which is about seven miles south of the original venue.

The documentary is called "The Who: The Night That Changed Rock" and you can watch the extended version of it below.

WCPO has also published more stories about night that weren't included in the documentary (due to time limitations). Those are available on their website, WCPO.com.
