Today in 1981, Canned Heat's 2nd lead singer Bob "The Bear" Hite was handed by a fan, a vial of what he thought was cocaine. He snorted the whole thing, it was heroin. OD, dead minutes later. That's exactly how the drummer for the Average White Band died too. A party at Cher's house 1970's, Hollywood Hills, someone cut out a few lines of a white powder, the drummer snorted them thinking it was coke, it was heroin, OD, dead minutes later.
