It was a deeply disturbed Lizard King that took the stage in New Orleans tonight in 1970, a hard-core alcoholic who would forget the words to songs while singing them and tell long running jokes with no punch lines. Doors keyboardist, the late Ray Manzarek, remembers that night in New Orleans when Jim Morrison's spirit "left his body," though Jim physically was still standing there. Morrison that night smashed a mike stand thru the stage floor and walked off stage. He would never perform with The Doors again and would in fact be dead in 7 months in Paris. Jim & The Doors had played Pittsburgh 7 months earlier at The Civic Arena.
