Janis Joplin was, according to her, "laughed out of her high school, laughed out of town, laughed out of state." She was bullied and made fun of in her Port Arthur TX High School. But 10 years after graduating, she was a big star. She returned to Port Arthur for her 10th Reunion in Aug. 1970 to show up her mean and abusive former classmates. They gave her a tire for being "the one who drove the furthest to get here." Janis would be dead of a heroin OD in a Hollywood hotel room 2 months later.
