Jeff Beck Group Debuts At Fillmore East, Rod Hides

The Jeff Beck Group, brand new in 1968, made their USA debut today in 1968 at NYC's Fillmore East. They were opening up for The Grateful Dead, who at the time, weren't that well known either. 23 year old Rod Stewart, The Jeff Beck Group's lead singer, was unnerved enough to hide behind the PA column for the band's 1st number! But he recovered quickly, and The Jeff Beck Group got rave reviews for their performance that night. June 22nd 1968. And things worked out well for 3 of the 4 band members too down the road, Jeff Beck, Rod and Ronnie Wood. The drummer Micky Waller died in 2008.  Jeff Beck Group Debut Fillmore East
