Besides being a gifted songwriter and guitarist for The Allman Brothers Band, Dickie Betts is also a true Southern redneck, rough and tumble SOB and proud of it. Dickie would knock you down and out in a split second if he thought you offended him, a friend or fellow bandmember. Dickie was also an incorrigible alcoholic and cocaine freak, which led to his dismissal from the Allman Brothers in 2000. He was never invited back. There are only 2 Allman Bros. left now from the original line-up, Dickie and Jaimoe. The Allman Brothers biggest hit was a Dickie Betts song, "Ramblin' Man," 1974. Dickie Betts
