Bill Graham was the founder of The Fillmores East & West, and one of the 1st concert venue-owners to take a chance on and hire such new, unproven bands like The Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Janis Joplin, The Jefferson Airplane and The Allman Brothers. Bill Graham was also a Holocaust survivor. He died in a helicopter crash today in California 1991, returning from a Huey Lewis & The News concert. He was 60.
