Jeffery Thomas, CEO, White Deer Run Treatment Network

White Deer Run is a 264 bed inpatient substance use disorder treatment center located in Allenwood, Pennsylvania.The facility offers inpatient withdrawal management and rehabilitation services.The facility is owned by Acadia Healthcare of Franklin, TN.

Jeff began his employment with white Deer Run in December 1983 as a Behavioral Health Technician.In January 1985, he was promoted to Primary Counselor for the Adolescent Program.In September 1988, he completed his credential as a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC).In October 1990, he was promoted to Director of Admissions.

In May 1996, Jeff completed his Master of Human Services degree from Lincoln University.Shortly thereafter, he obtained his credential as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.In August 1996, Mr. Thomas was promoted to Clinical Director where he served in this capacity until his promotion to CEO in December 1999.In 2002, Jeff achieved his credential as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

In 2005, Jeff made a career change with the same company and moved to the Information Technology department (IT) as a Business Analyst to assist the company in development of an Electronic Medical Record and Billing system that would support Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services.Jeff assisted with company-wide implementation of the new EMR between 2005 and 2018.This implementation included facilities such as Sierra Tucson, in Tucson, Arizona, Twelve Oaks Recovery Center, Navarre, FL, and Wilmington Treatment Center, Wilmington, North Carolina.Jeff also assisted with the company-wide implementation of Salesforce which is used for screening and admissions.

In May 2018, Jeff returned to White Deer Run Allenwood, where he again serves as CEO.In addition to White Deer Run Allenwood, Jeff oversees the White Deer Run Partial Hospitalization program in Williamsport, PA.

Jeff has a passion for addiction treatment.To that end he and his team are constantly searching for new innovations to help individuals with Substance Use disorder.Such innovations include being the first substance use disorder treatment facility to implement a full body x-ray scanner to mitigate drug infiltration into the treatment milieu.We also implemented the NSS-2 Bridge Device from Innovative Health Solutions, which significantly reduces opioid withdrawal, and we added Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) to our treatment portfolio.Jeff’s passion stems from his own recovery from addition, now 37 years drug and alcohol free, thanks to White Deer Run.

Today White Deer Run admits 5,000 patients a year.We are in the middle of a 60 bed expansion, which will place us at 324 beds, and make us the largest substance use disorder program in Pennsylvania by late 2020.
