One thing Elton John is--totally honest about his excesses over the years, particularly about his addiction to buying stuff....in his 2019 memoir "Me," he talks about how he came back to England after a U.S. tour with 67 cases and 42 trunks of purchases. He talks about how he had an eye for beautiful furniture and art but also his "remarkably high threshold for gaudy kitsch:" We're talkin' a "model of a gorilla in an Edwardian dress," and a "radio in the shape of a doll wearing a see-through negligee, the volume and tuning controls were mounted on her tits." Elton eventually decided to auction almost all of his acquisitions and brought in 8.2 million dollars, way more than the auction house estimated...
