Spinal Tap Drummer Ric Parnell Dies

Who knew that the drummer in the famous Rob Reiner heavy metal "Mocumentary" movie, "This is Spinal Tap," that the guy who played the drummer in the band, "Mick Shrimpton,' was an actual accomplished rock drummer, Ric Parnell? I didn't until word came out of Parnell's passing this weekend at age 70....no cause of death was revealed...Parnell was the son of British jazz drummer Jack Parnell, and was the drummer in the heyday of the progressive rock band "Atomic Rooster"...he also played with Jon Anderson of Yes, Toni Basil, Michael Des Barres, Ravi Shankar, and a bunch more....But it's his part as the spontaneously combusting drummer for the hilarious fictional band Spinal Tap that made him the most famous....here's a bunch more about Parnell in light of his passing at age 70.
