Boy, Don Henley's huge hit and award winning song "Boys of Summer" woulda probably sounded a whole lot different if Tom Petty had taken it when his guitarist Mike Campbell offered it to him...story goes Mike had the demo music, but no lyrics, to what would become Henley's big tune, and played it for Petty and producer Jimmy Iovine, and neither guy was thrilled with it.....here's more about how that went down, and how the Henley thing happened.
