Sammy Hagar is more than a little sensitive, it seems, about the assumption some fans have that when he joined Van Halen, the band moved away from its signature Eddie guitar sound to a lot more keyboards. In a recent interview, he went on at length about how the first time Van Halen used keyboards was on "Jump," two years before he joined the band. Then said "I'm a damn guitar player," and wouldn't have been steering Eddie to play keyboards on a bunch of songs. He says Eddie was into using keyboards for the VH tunes, and "he was freakin' good at it." Which dispels another assumption some VH fans have: that Sammy was the one playing the keyboards...he'll let you know all about how that's not true, plus a lot more, here: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/sammy-hagar-van-halen-keyboards/
