About My First DVE Work Buddy, All Night Jack Maloy

When I started at DVE, I was the 7-midnight chick on the air, and Jack Maloy followed me at midnight....so we got to hang out every night when the rest of the air and business staff were long gone.... it wasn't til a few years passed that I found out that THAT was what he liked best about that shift--doing his thing after the suits were gone...The funniest thing was when our then-boss thought he was rewarding Jack by bumping him up to the 7pm shift after I had been moved to middays, Jack was pissed. Really didn't want any part of it ...so eventually, he got his way and was once again All Night Jack Maloy until he retired 6 years ago. Jack was at my wedding, and his then-wife said to me "Jack is one of a kind." And he was truly the only dude cut from whatever mold God used. I loved that he didn't try, or care to be, anybody or anything other than what he was. Life totally on his terms. And he was such a good dj...and dj'ed a zillion weddings and dances too. Made me laugh. Was super considerate. Rock on, Jack, to that great gig in the sky.
