Bill Peduto Announces State of Emergency for City of Pittsburgh

Bill Peduto held a press conference Friday afternoon to announce a State of Emergency for the city of Pittsburgh. Below are a few notes. Watch the full press conference below for or click HERE for complete details.

  • The State of Emergency will go into effect as of Monday, March 16th, at 9 am.
  • Executive Order issued banning all public gatherings of more than 250 people inside the city.
    • That includes Restaurants, Casinos, etc. But, it does not include office employees.
  • The state of emergency will last initially for seven days.
  • PGH Housing Authority has suspended evictions.
  • Pittsburgh utilities have suspended shutoffs.
  • Emergency responders will work to prioritize calls for help.
  • City employees will be able to telework if possible or bring children to work with them.
  • For St. Patrick's Day
    • Bars and restaurants will be allowed to operate, but be held strictly to their occupancy limits. Any facility over that limit will "be immediately shut down". They also asked that all bars/restaurants voluntarily limit their occupancy to a lower level.
