6th Annual Beard Championships to Benefit Children’s Hospital and SAVE22

Get your beards ready Pittsburgh! The Mad Viking Beard Club is hosting their 6th Annual Beard Championships benefiting Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Veterans group SAVE22 this weekend at Cadillac Ranch in Robinson.

This year they are calling the event “Mad Viking’s Monsters Ball,” and it kicks off on Friday night, October 4th with a costume contest, followed by a concert with Pittsburgh’s very own Gene The Werewolf!

“As the normal person could probably guess by our name, our favorite time of year to play is around Halloween,” says Jon Belan from Gene The Werewolf. “But when you throw in a beard competition, all the while supporting causes like Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and SAVE22, this show could possibly be the best night ever!”

The Beard Competition will be held on Saturday, October 5th. Registration starts at 1pm, and beards from from all over the world are coming to Pittsburgh to compete this weekend. You also might even recognize one of the judges this year. Jason Sealand, owner of Mad Viking Beard Company, told me that Rob "Blasko" Nicholson, who is the bass player in Ozzy Osbourne’s band and has also played on Rob Zombie’s albums, will be in attendance as a judge for the Comp on Saturday!

GA Spectator tickets for both Friday and Saturday are available for just $20 in advance, or you can grab them at the door each day for $10. Entry fees for the Beard Comp are $22.85. More info here.

The five previous Mad Viking Beard Comps have raised a substantial amount of funds in support of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and various other local establishments and shelters.
