Billy Idol Pulls Out Of Upcoming Tour With Journey Tour Due To Illness

Billy Idol is dealing with an illness that has forced him to pull out of the upcoming tour with Journey this year.

The Freedom Tour starts in Pittsburgh on February 22nd at PPG Paints Arena, and TOTO, who is already the opener on the second leg of the tour, will now be the opener for that show and the entire first leg as well.

Idol posted a statement on Twitter that says, "I haven't felt like myself since mid-December with a sinus infection that won't respond to medication. It has worsened to the point where I have no choice but to have a procedure which I expect will put me on the path to recovery soon."

He added, “The last thing I ever want to do is cancel shows and I am absolutely gutted that I won’t be able to perform the upcoming dates with Journey as planned. I wish Journey only the best on their tour and give thanks to Toto for stepping in for me.”

One final note here: Since TOTO is now the opener for the entire tour, they have had to postpone some if their own shows that were on the schedule, including the one at Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall in March.
