Report: Mike Tomlin On Shortlist for Redskins Head Coach Position

Mike Tomlin

The Washington Redskins fired head coach Jay Gruden on Monday morning, and rumors are already starting to fly about who his replacement might be.

One name on the list is kind of surprising. It's Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

Ed Werder from ESPN tweeted: "In a recent conversation with someone who knows Dan Snyder well and is aware of his thoughts on potential next #Redskins head coaches that any list of candidates would include: #Steelers HC Mike Tomlin, #Bucs DC Todd Bowles, #Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy."

NFL Reporter Jason La Canfora also weighed in and said he believes Dan Snyder's primary objective will be to find a way to acquire Mike Tomlin from the Steelers.

Of course Tomlin signed a contract extension with the Steelers earlier this year.

According to NFL.com, assistant head coach and offensive line coach Bill Callahan will become the interim head coach of Redskins.
