Sony Releasing a New 40th Anniversary Walkman, But It Doesn't Play Tapes

Sony is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Walkman with the release of a new version of the iconic Walkman from back in the day, but it won't actually play cassettes.

Instead, it will have 16GB of internal storage, and feature USB charging, Bluetooth capability and touch controls on a fairly large four-inch screen.

So basically, it's a big MP3 player that kinda looks like the cassette version of the Walkman? Pretty much!

If you're looking for some nostalgia in your portable music player, or want your music to sound like it's on vinyl, this might be for you. It is supposed to have a processor that puts a vinyl sound effect on your tunes (I would rather listen to actual records to get that effect).

However, if you want the cassette sound, you'll have to buy the cassette player adapter, which is rumored to be available as an optional accessory.

The Walkman NW-A105 doesn't have a price tag yet, but it's expected to be released just in time for Christmas this year.
