Fisherman Watches Helplessly As Wife Drowns In Hurricane Dorian Flooding

This is such a heartbreaking story. Fisherman Howard Armstrong watched helplessly as his wife drowned in the rising flood waters that claimed their home on Grand Bahama during Hurricane Dorian.

He told a reporter from CNN that the storm surge came in sent appliances and furniture spinning around their home like a "washing machine." His wife was standing on top of the kitchen cabinets when the water was rising. The water eventually reached the ceiling and he did not have any tools to knock a hole through to the roof.

Armstrong, who was clearly still in shock during this interview, said that after he lost his wife, he somehow managed to get out of the house, and then noticed one his boats was still off in the distance, so he took a chance and swam to it.
