50th Anniversary of The Beatles Walk on Abbey Road

50 years ago on August 8th at 11:35am, The Beatles did a photo shoot on Abbey Road. Photographer Iain MacMillan only took six photos, and the session only lasted 10 minutes! He was on a step ladder in the middle of the road, and of the six photos. number five was the one chosen for what has since become one of the most famous album covers in history. Why did they go with the fifth photo? Because it was the only one the had everyone's legs in a perfect V formation.

MacMillan passed away in 2006, and the crosswalk, which is now a historic landmark, is visited by more than 200,000 people annually. There is also now a live video feed of the crosswalk that you can watch 24-7.

In celebration of the anniversary, The Beatles announced a 50th Anniversary reissue of Abbey Road that will be out on September 27th, which you can pre-order now.
