Naval Academy Greased Obelisk Climb

Hundreds of Naval Academy Freshman joined up for their annual Herndon Monument Climb. Their goal is to place an officers cap on the top of the 21-foot greased Obelisk. They keep getting close... Then the tower of people collapses!

We started watching (LIVE) at 1h20m in and by the time we wrote this post they weren't there yet. The newscaster mentioned that average completion time is just over 2.5 hours. It takes between 4-5 rows of people before they can reach the top.

I feel exhausted just watching this! Good luck everyone! Read More about the tradition HERE.

UPDATE: THEY DID IT!!!! Whole crowd went crazy. 2h9m23s

We've watched them get close a few times... Then something like this happens. Literally everyone in the office was like 'ewwwwwwwhhhhhhh'
