Nat'l Anthem and Flyover at Heinz Field vs Vikings

posted by Mike Steele -

Before the Steelers kicked off their home opener at Heinz Field, the team honored Dan Rooney with a tribute video, a "DMR" flag raised by Rocky Bleier and Mel Blount, and Ben Roethlisberger running onto the field with a flag bearing the same "DMR" logo inside a shamrock.

Mr. Rooney was a fan of the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the brass and percussion sections performed the National Anthem. That was followed by a military flyover by the 13th Bomb Squadron with airmen from the Pittsburgh area!. I was in the press box of Heinz Field...it gave me goosebumps. Great moment!

My buddy Alan Freed, who is a photographer for the 'Punxsutawney Spirit' captured an amazing image as the jets approached.

Another Pittsburgh photographer,  Andrew Baugh, snapped this pic of Le'Veon Bell after the game with the pilots themselves.
