Pitt RB James Conner Drafted by the Steelers

He endured 12 chemo treatments for Hodgkin's lymphoma and recovered in time for the Pitt 2016 season opener. Last night, he was drafted by the team he shared a home field with - the Pittsburgh Steelers.  And, looking at the current roster, he will be able to keep #24 as his jersey number.

Conner's was in his hometown of Erie last night, as friends and family gathered for a draft party. This is the moment the announcement was made at the draft, by Steelers' linebacker Arthur Moats....


 

Coach Tomlin congratulated Conner by phone, saying there's a lot of work to do.  But, also joking that the team wouldn't pay for Conner's gas to get back to town from Erie....

 

And, Conner's head coach at Pitt, Pat Narduzzi, had some kind words for his running back...
