Fifty Pittsburgh Penguins fans who won "Golden Tickets" during various company promotions will be the team's special guests this afternoon, as the Pens host the Carolina Hurricanes at PPG Paints Arena. Team corporate partners had run contests to give away the special tickets. According to the team's VP of Sales and Broadcasting Terry Kalna, more than 250,000 fans registered throughout the season.
Prior to the Pens/Canes game, one fan was chosen at random for the grand prize: a pair of Penguins season tickets for the next 20 seasons. That's 820 regular season games.
Congratulations to Vince Maromonte, who had his #30 lottery ball chosen by Phil Bourque.
Each of the 50 Golden Ticket winners has already collected a special prize pack. Among the items:
-Use of a center-ice suite for 32 people at a Pens game
-$50,000 in free slot play at Rivers Casino
-Penguins party suite for the winner and 39 friends
-Custom Penguins high-top table and two barstools
-A "Day in the Life of a Penguin" prize pack
The estimated value of these prizes (separate of the grand prize) is $200,000.
