Many rockers have appeared on "Simpsons" over the years, either as themselves, or playing a character, but some have declined....Among those who you've seen: Aerosmith, U2, Tom Petty, and Elton John, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, who came to the rescue after the Stones declined. (The Stones did reconsider and appear in a later episode). Among those who said no: David Bowie in an episode set in England, Dylan (Johnny Cash did it instead), Jon Bon Jovi (Jackson Browne did it instead), Neil Young (Peter Frampton did it instead), and in a twist, Courtney Love.
