Alex Van Halen's working on a new Van Halen album using his late brother Eddie's guitar tracks that had been recorded, but never put on an album previously because of the great guitarist passing away in 2020. So far, the lineup is Eddie with previously recorded guitar tracks, Alex on drums, and Wolfgang Van Halen on bass guitar, but no vocalist has been chosen. Neither of the two famous previous lead singers is being considered: David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. Alex has said when they were trying to put together an Eddie Van Halen tribute tour, Roth flew into a rage when Alex said they had to do some sort of acknowledgement of Eddie during the show. Alex says Dave "f-ing popped a fuse." And "the vitriol that came out was unbelievable." So the tour never happened, and Alex blames Roth. As for the animosity Alex has toward Sammy, it stems from things Sammy included about Eddie's alcoholism in the Hagar autobiography "Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock." Sammy described how awful the inside of Eddie's house was, strewn with bottles and beer cans, no door handle on the refrigerator, and "spider webs all over the place." After Eddie's death, Sammy said he regretted exposing all those details, and has tried to apologize to Alex, but to no avail. So lead singer for the upcoming Van Halen album is currently up in the air..here's more: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/sammy-hagar-david-lee-roth-not-on-next-van-halen-album/
