The Who's Pete Townsend recently went public with his recent recovery to an addiction to pain killers. He says he got addicted earlier this year after knee surgery, after being clean from substance abuse for more than 30 years: "I had been addicted to alcohol several ties, then narcotics. I'd been clean for over 30 years. I called a close friend who's working for a recovery clinic in Spain, and he got my head sorted out. I'm feeling really good at the moment."
When he was asked about the current status of touring with the Who now that he's 80: "I don't like being away from my family, my studios, my dogs, my friends." As for his relationship with Roger Daltrey, and ending touring with the long-time band mate, he says it "could give Roger and I permission never to call each other again." "I hope that doesn't happen.:" Here's more from Pete, including his funny take on the possibility of avatars continuing the Who's legacy after they're gone: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/pete-townshend-painkiller-addition/
