Most of America really started to play attention to George Thorogood and the Destroyers in the early 1980's when "Bad to the Bone", "One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer" and other tunes started jammin' on rock and roll radio stations...but the band actually played their first gig back in 1973. As the only other original member of the Destroyers, drummer Jeff Simon, recalls, the crowd at the club was bored with them during the first set, but was up dancing and having a blast by the middle of the second set, and they figured maybe they were gonna be something special...Now the band has announced they'll do an extensive 50th anniversary tour starting next year, with their first Canadian show dates in 3 years...The tour starts February 13th in Fort Lauderdale, and at this point, ends May 17th in Niagara Falls, Ontario, but the band says they will most certainly add more dates.
