Rockers, just like actors and other show biz types, come up with catchy stage names they think will be cooler than their given names, or will stick with fans better than their given names....how did they come up with them? Here's a couple of the bigger and more famous stage names: Alice Cooper, born Vincent Furnier, was trying to come up with a name and persona, and told band mates he wanted to use something that would be similar to axe-murderer Lizzy Borden, so he came up with Alice Cooper....Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx says he created a whole new name and person from his original name Frank Serafino Ferranno to help purge the pain and anger of his dad who abandoned him...and all the guys in Kiss have stage names: Gene Simmons was Chaim Weitz, Paul Stanley was Stanley Eisen, Ace Frehley's given name is Paul Frehley, and Peter Criss grew out of the name George Peter Criscuola....here's more on those, plus more stage named rockers.
