Pens Announce Return of Big Screen (new location) And “Gold-Outs” for Home Playoff Games
The Pittsburgh Penguins today announced the return of the KeyBank Big Screen for all home games during the Stanley Cup playoffs.
This year, however, it will be in a new location.
The large video screen, a staple of Penguins playoff hockey for more than a decade, will be located in the arena parking lot at the corner of Centre Avenue and Logan Street – directly across from PPG Paints Arena. Logan Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between Centre and Wylie Avenue for home games.
“Moving the KeyBank Big Screen to the corner of Centre and Logan gives us a larger space and enables us to create a much more fan-friendly atmosphere, with a stage for bands, food trucks, face painters and interactive games,” said James Santilli, Senior VP of Marketing for the Penguins. “All of the activations will take place on Logan Street. We really think it will be a fun, vibrant environment for our fans.”
The Penguins open their first-round playoff series on the road against the New York Islanders, with Games 1 and 2 at Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday and Friday (please note that the big screen will not be in operation for road games).
The series then shifts to Pittsburgh and PPG Paints Arena for Games 3 and 4 on Sunday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 16. The Penguins playoffs are presented by PPG, UPMC and IGS Energy.
Activation at the big screen will begin two hours before game time. In addition to local bands performing on the Canada Dry Stage, fans may test their skills at interactive games known as the “Penguins Combine” from the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. Face painters also will be available at no charge.
Inside PPG Paints Arena, "Gold-Outs" will again become the norm as the Pens will distribute gold t-shirts and towels to all fans in attendance.
There will be a Coors Light party tent outside the Highmark Gate, near the Mario Lemieux statue.
Also, fans may pick up free playoff yards signs at Pittsburgh area DICK'S Sporting Goods locations while supplies last.
