Ten People Died After Entire Nursing Home Diagnosed With COVID-19

Ten people living at a nursing home in Kansas died after every resident there contracted COVID-19. The Norton County Health Department announced that all 62 residents and several staff members at Andbe Home in Norton tested positive for the coronavirus.

One person remains hospitalized, while the other 51 patients are being cared for at the facility. Health officials said they are working with the Andbe Home to prevent future outbreaks.

"Steps are being taken to prevent any further outbreak, including quarantining residents in their rooms and not allowing outside visitors into the facility," the health department said in a press release

According to the Kansas City Starthe state has 241 active outbreaks, which are responsible for 8,063 cases and 154 deaths. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has identified 806 clusters, of which 240 were traced back to long-term care facilities. 

As of Tuesday (October 20), there have been more than 71,000 cases in Kansas and 870 deaths.
