Alejandro Villanueva spoke on Monday about choosing to wear the name of fallen Army hero SFC Alwyn Cashe on his helmet.
According to our Steelers Insider Dale Lolley on Twitter, Villanueva says he did it "because he's trying to help the push for Cashe to receive the Medal of Honor many feel he deserves. Nothing more. Nothing less."
Brooke Pryor from ESPN tweeted that Villanueva said the decision "was something that was very personal to me because in the veteran community, there's a strong push to get him the medal of honor."
He added that he did have permission from head coach Mike Tomlin to wear Cashe's name on his helmet.
