Rush played their first show with the late Neil Peart at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh on August 14, 1974.
According to the Post Gazette, Geddy Lee was once asked about that gig by Rolling Stone, and said, "We were the opening act for Uriah Heep. And Manfred Mann’s Earth Band was the special guest. We were given 24 minutes, exactly, to play. It was over very quickly.”
