Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin Donates to Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin made a monetary donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh this week, enabling RMH to fulfill its entire pantry wish list and provide games for family entertainment.
“My wife, Anna, and I wanted to do something to help families in the Pittsburgh area. We know it is hard for everyone right now, but we couldn’t imagine having a child hospitalized during this uncertain time,” said Malkin. “While we are comfortable in our own homes, others are relying on the generosity of others, like Ronald McDonald House to open their doors.”
Malkin’s donation also will be used to assist the organization to continue to provide daily hot meals and catering. The organization is currently housing about 20 families of hospitalized children.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support that Evgeni Malkin has extended to our Charity,” said Eleanor Reigel, Executive Director of RMH. “His generosity ensures that we can continue to provide our families with warm meals, essential household and pantry items and a safe and supportive environment to call home during this uncertain time.”
Non-perishable pantry items provide families with self-serve options such as, microwaveable meals, pastas, cereals, canned goods and snacks. Paper products and cleaning supplies were also included on this list.
In addition to the pantry items, the charity was also able to purchase new board games to provide some light-hearted fun for those spending long hours at RMH. The final gift was sent from the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and included Penguins promotional items, blankets and Evgeni Malkin bobbleheads.
