Imagine that you live in a beachfront home; you wake up on a beautiful morning and walk outside to take in the beautiful view.
Then, you spot it: a huge boat on the shore of the beach. And there’s no one around it or inside it.
Residents of Melbourne Beach, Florida, recently found their morning disturbed by such a boat.
“It’s like the whole thing is intact,” said Sylvia MacAllister, one of the first to discover the huge ghost boat.
“You almost expect to see somebody in there, you know — little heads popping out.”
That would probably be terrifying. Luckily, no resident found any little heads. But the boat wasn’t without its share of mystery.
It had a faded name and home port — the “Cuki” out of New Rochelle, New York — along with old, rusted equipment. But it also had a strange mannequin inside, wearing a vest that only added to the mystery surrounding the ship.
And though the boat’s label reads New York, a representative of the Sheriff’s office discovered it was registered in Key West. Deputies believe the boat might have washed ashore as a result of Hurricane Irma.
Resident disagree, however. They think it may have been out alone at sea long before the hurricane.
