Bruce Springsteen Wasn't Happy With "Born in the U.S.A."

Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" was clearly his most commercially successful album, but it falls short of being one of his favorites. In a recent interview to promote this Friday's release of "Tracks II: The Lost Albums" box set of songs written between the albums "Nebraska" and "Born in the USA," Bruce said he was hoping "Born in the USA" would be a continuation of the mood and theme of Nebraska, but it didn't turn out that way. "You go into the studio, you have an idea. It's not necessarily what you come out with." "I suppose maybe I was looking for something darker." Bruce concludes that the themes of "Nebraska" do come through, but in a different musical structure: "The themes of "Nebraska" are in there. They're disguised somewhat into pop music." Here's more from Bruce about what went into the making of "Born in the USA" and "Tracks II: The Lost Albums" :https://ultimateclassicrock.com/bruce-springsteen-not-happy-biggest-album/
