Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver has passed away.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced that Seaver died Monday from complications of Lewy body dementia and COVID-19.
Seaver, who led the New York Mets to a World Series victory in 1969 and was known as "Tom Terrific," won 25 games that season, which was an MLB-best. He also won three Cy Young Awards.
According to ESPN, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said Seaver was "one of the greatest pitchers of all-time" and "a gentleman who represented the best of our National Pastime" in a statement he released on Wednesday.
Seaver was 75 years old.
