Did you know that after David Lee Roth left Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen asked his friend and lead singer of the band Scandal Patty Smyth if she wanted to join the band? I didn't. In a recent interview, she said she declined, in part, because of their "heavy drinking" and because Eddie and Alex Van Halen were always fighting....Smyth includes that Eddie called her years later and said he wasn't going public with his invitation to her because he didn't want Sammy Hagar to know he was the "second choice."
