The NHL announced its national broadcast schedule for the 2019-20 season this morning. The Penguins will make 16 national television appearances during the regular season. The first game will be Oct. 16th when the Pens take on the Avalanche at PPG Paints Arena.
All games can be heard live on 105.9 The X and ESPN Pittsburgh.

Pens to Make 16 National TV Appearances on NBC and NBC Sports Network
The Pittsburgh Penguins will make 16 national television appearances on NBC and NBC Sports Network during the 2019-20 regular season, it was announced today by the National Hockey League and its network rightsholder, NBC Sports.
The Penguins’ first national television appearance will be on Wednesday, October 16 when Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche visit PPG Paints Arena at 7:00 PM. That game is the first of six “Wednesday Night Hockey” showdowns the Penguins will play on NBC Sports Network in 2019-20.
One of the notable “Wednesday Night Hockey” matchups this upcoming season will occur on December 4 when the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues visit Pittsburgh at 8:00 PM.
Pittsburgh is scheduled to make a league-high six appearances on NHL on NBC. The Penguins’ first NBC appearance will come on Sunday, January 19 when they play the Boston Bruins at 12:30 PM in NBC’s “NHL Game of the Week.” All six of Pittsburgh’s NHL on NBC appearances will come on Sundays at 12 or 12:30 PM.
Twelve of the Penguins’ 16 national television appearances will be exclusives, with the Penguins’ local regional rightsholder, AT&T SportsNet, broadcasting the other 70 games this season. Steve Mears will return for his third year as play-by-play broadcaster working alongside color commentator Bob Errey and rinkside reporter Dan Potash.
AT&T SportsNet begins its coverage of Pittsburgh’s 2019-20 regular season with the home opener against the Buffalo Sabres on October 3 at 7:00 PM.
